It’s been a while since I came across a real neat or unique marker that could be used for both real-sim training as well as self defense. Today I found the RAP4 468, a marker which is tough as nails and copies the muscle memory from an M4/M16 rifle. The RAP4 468 has a two-part receiver just like the traditional M4 rifle and allows for full customization with ability to swap the entire upper receiver including the barrel, hand guard, and any accessories attached to the hand guard for another specially-outfitted upper receiver in seconds.
The RAP4 468 is machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and made in the USA. It’s been said to be the most field durable and dependable marker to date and features many newer innovations which include; Authentic split-receiver design, front and rear combat sights, optional air system, and Lok-Bolt Anti Chop System.
The RAP4 468 can be utilized for less lethal self defense application by switching from standard paintball rounds to specifically designed self defense rounds which contain Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) which is commonly referred to as pepper powder as well as hard hitting glass breaker projectile which are .68 caliber hard ceramic balls or rubber coated glass balls. For homes that don’t want traditional firearms in the house, the RAP4 468 seems to be a relatively practical and effective solution for defense. The RAP4 468 comes with a five year factory warranty and and a 14 round DMAG magazine.

The flashbang produces a 145dB bang and 5 million candela flash, This is a great feature for SWAT and other law enforcement special units.
The Defenzia M09 is a NFA firearm according to ATF guidelines so this sweet weapon is only available to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in the United States. However, a rifled .5o caliber version will soon be available to the consumer market. Defenzia has not yet stated if there will be any other rounds accept for the rubber bullets available for the .50 caliber M11.

As Less Lethal Alternatives has been getting an overwhelming amount of inquires regarding the release date of the Defenzia M11 less lethal consumer firearm, we felt that it was time for an update. Thus far the company has released no official date, but has stated that it should be available on the consumer market prior to the end of 2016.
The Defenzia M11 is a four-barrel .50 caliber firearm, it fires a rubber projectile in semi-automatic action and propels the impact round down range with 75 joules of muzzle energy. It is highly advised and recommended that the target zone is center mass. Avoid head shots and shots to the groin area. The device is a less lethal firearm, key words to remember are “LETHAL” and “FIREARM”. As with any less lethal platform there is always a chance of a lethal outcome, even if it is less likely than with a standard firearm.
As the official release date becomes available we will post another update with pricing and purchasing information. We thank you for your patience.

Our next topic of discussion about Less Lethal Arms is a self-defense unit produced by Jiun An Technology Co, LTD in Taiwan. You may remember an earlier posting about the Raysun X1 ECD type device, well this is it’s little brother the Raysun M1. The unit has an angled curve much like the Taser C2 and Kelin Remote Needle Gun, but unlike these units and it’s big brother, the M1 doesn’t rely on stun technology. This diverse Less Lethal Alternative platform has a variety of defensive options to offer it’s handler. The double barrel, over/under configuration fires a pepper bullet cartridge, a pepper powder cartridge, or SOS signal flare. The signal flare has a reach of 100 meters, the pepper ball can strike out at 12-15 meters, and the pepper powder cartridge is useful for disabling multiple targets at a close ranges of 3-5 meters. An optional high beam light cartridge can also be deployed for 60 minutes of continues use at 30 meters and can be used as a disorientation strobe device. The Raysun M1 has a laser sight for aiming as well as a small LED light for darker areas. It’s safety features include a red light indicator and a safety buzzer to let the user know the system is activated and armed. It’s dimensions measure 125x55x30 mm, for a fairly compact self-defense unit. The standard package includes the M1 unit, 3 mode LED cartridge x1, Pepper bullet cartridge x 1, Pepper powder cartridge x 3, one soft carrying case, and one belt holster. A rechargeable battery is optional, other optional ammo types include paintball and rubber bullets. The unit comes in a red/black or gray/white color scheme. I have attempted to find a U.S. dealer of this product but have been unable to do so yet. I will keep you posted on further details.
I was recently exploring my online resources and came across a new website for a company called Eclipse. This is a system that has been through research and development for over the last ten years. While specific markets weren’t indicated on the manufacturer’s website it would appear that this system is not meant for consumer home defense but rather for government agencies for less lethal application in riot control. The Eclipse launchers use a 40mm projectile and operate under constant pressure; the system allows the operator to adjust the velocity and power of each shot without venting gases thus making the most efficient use out of the power source. Furthermore the Eclipse launcher’s ammo uses no pyrotechnic or gun powder charges and is case-less which decreases it’s overall operating cost. The Eclipse variable velocity weapon system uses a laser or acoustic range finder that automates the system based on the range to the target. The variable velocity ranges between 100-600 fps and the system operates under pressure between 150-1200 psi. There are several versions in development with various options for power sources such as scuba tanks and paintball style air tanks. Some versions have 6-round rotary magazines while others have 30 round ammo belts which may be useful considering the system has a cycle rate of 120 rounds per minute. The Eclipse system offers a wide variety of ammo payloads for various operational needs which include; blunt impact rounds with foam tipped or OC powder payloads, pneumatically timed aerosol canisters, smoke, illumination rounds in pyrotechnic or electric versions, IR targeting beacons, hornet’s nest and pepperball shot. Checkout their website for more info on the Eclipse, www.eclipsedefense.com.
Jiun An Technology Co, LTD is a company known for producing some of today’s most reliable and sophisticated self defense gear as well as gas-powered less lethal projectiles and stun weapons. The company is known for a variety of training gear and corrections equipment for military and law enforcement. Jiun An Technology Co, LTD has just released their new line of .50 caliber pistols called the RAYSUN-92 for less lethal personal protection as a demand for this type of product has risen in recent years. Their new line of .50 caliber assailant stopping pistols fire projectiles such as rubber balls, chemical or pava rounds, as well as powerful impact rounds such as glass breakers at an incredible 400 FPS (feet per second). These less lethal pistol can reach out to 40 feet, much further than ECD units such as a Taser to take on a threat with less lethal force. The pistols are semi-automatic and have a seven round magazine capacity which operates off of one 12oz CO2 canister. The pistol is the size of a regular full-size handgun yet small enough for concealment and the imposing size of the barrel may be enough to deter a threat before the trigger ever has to be pulled. Our next piece of less lethal tech is as sleek and sexy as it is effective. Tiberius Arms is a manufacturer of high end paintball gear and compact .68 caliber launchers. The former less lethal device known as the SWAT C8 which has been discontinued and the still existing FN P 303 which is marketed as a true less lethal device for law enforcement, was based off of the Tiberius T 8.1 platform. The Tiberius T 8.1 is a semi-automic, 8 round, pistol sized launcher ideal for home defense and personal protection. This unit is sleeker and smaller than it’s competition while still delivering a muzzle velocity of 280 fps(feet per second) at ranges of 30-50 feet with around 25 joules of energy to it’s target. This unit can be customized in several ways including red dot sights, laser sights, and with a “First Strike” conversion kit the unit can accept fin-stabilized projectiles similar to those fired by the FN 303 greatly improving it’s accuracy. This unit is capable of rapid reload with extra magazines each holding a twelve gram C02 cartridge and eight rounds of less lethal ammo, from glass breakers to chemical PAVA/pepper rounds and everything in between. The specs include a solid aluminum upper receiver, dual rubber detents, side dovetailed iron sights, low profile C02 quick puncture, and grooved full length grip for comfort and control. The T 8.1 measures 10.5″ in length and is roughly 2 lbs, so it may not be the best device for concealable carry but when it comes to gas powered launchers it’s still fairly compact. The unit comes in three sexy color variations black, black/silver, and silver. The T 8.1 is designed and produced in the United States so you can count on it’s reliability. *NOTE: ammo choice is crucial when using a .68 cal paintball marker for self defense purposes. While regular paintballs can sting on impact they may not be sufficient enough to stop a determined attacker. For alternative ammo choices see the previous article posted in this category.
This unit’s MSRP is roughly $200.00 and is available at many online retailers.
The First Strike conversion kit is roughly $100.00
Here is another less lethal launcher that we can be proud to say is made right here in the good old USA. The Bruzer less lethal launcher is based on a break-barrel pistol platform which, “uses existing 12 gauge less lethal munitions. Some of the munitions available include: Kinetic Energy Impact, Chemical, Signaling, and Muzzle Blast munitions. These munitions are available from a variety of manufacturers, distributors, and retail stores. By changing the munitions, you can dynamically alter the function in which the Bruzer Less Lethal Launcher Platform operates. The appearance of Bruzer is all about intimidation. Visually, Bruzer with its flat black exterior and large bore stainless steel barrels, command respect.”-Bruzer Less Lethal
Although I do not personally own one of these units, everything I’ve read and seen about this less lethal launcher looks promising. Some of the PROS of this unit is that it is concealable, offers customizing options ( i.e. laser or tac-light), available with orange barrels (for law enforcement identification as less lethal), and it offers it’s user two shots to take down a potential threat. It uses a single action operating mechanism which allows the user time to decide if a second shot is necessary to subdue the threat. As always it’s a good idea to check with your local state and city police departments to see about any restrictions of owning a NFA less lethal launcher.
This unit’s MSRP is $650.00
